Solving some of our long-term energy problems could be easily tied into our current need to create sustainable, good quality jobs and improve our infrastructure. Our federal government should work in conjunction with the states to craft a program whereby solar panels, solar water heating systems and/or wind turbines be installed on all public school grounds and other government buildings across the nation. Local school districts would help to generate clean power, lower their energy costs over the long term and thus save state tax payers monies that would otherwise be spent on cooling and heating costs. The installation of such systems would provide thousands of people with work and generate business for American companies that manufacture solar power systems.
