Earth really needs to be able to take down any incoming meteorites, because we should be worried about the safety of the people. I suggest having scientists create some sort of super hyper powered laser(or cannon) which could be strong enough to destroy a meteorite and be accurate to shoot from thousands of miles away. Then we could send out a clean up crew to collect any large enough debris that could be harmful for us. Viola! now if anyone has any suggestions/comments that they would like to share on this topic, then I suggest you do that.
