While the constitution allows the right to bear arms, handguns are not needed for the citizens to protect themselves from the government. Handguns are only good for killing people, they are not needed for sport or hunting. The ease of access to them and the ability of unstable individuals to gain access to them is unnerving. Generally the government is not need to protect the people from themselves but in this instance they do. It is far to easy to resolve an argument by pulling a trigger. If one looked at the murder rate, a majority of the deaths are crimes of passion and the presence of a handgun resulted in the death of an individual. Additionally in civilized nations in Europe the existence of mass killings simply is not a way of life. It is unacceptable!
