Preserve the 2nd Amendment while Increasing Gun Safety via Technology and Innovation

Created by J.O. on January 04, 2013

We call on the Administration to work with Congress to incentivize/mandate gun manufacturers incorporate gun safety technology, ie. biometrics, RFID, etc., into all firearms and create a trade-in program for current gun owners to upgrade their firearms to ones with these safety features.

We further call on Administration to ensure that the ammunition for these firearms is not backwards compatible and that currently manufactured ammunition be phased out over an appropriate period to further incentivize upgrading.

These technologies when used properly can protect our children at home and school as well deter gun theft and unauthorized use while not infringing on the Second Amendment.

If innovation can make cars and planes safer, surely it can for gun ownership and use as well.
