Preserve the Affordable Care Act - Don't lose sight of the goal of a healthy country

Created by P.G. on October 25, 2011

Healthcare financing is complex, and no legislation is perfect. But we have to start somewhere to solve the problem of poor health. A healthy country is a prosperous country. Multiple studies show that people who delay receiving care because they can't afford it are sicker when they do seek care and therefore more expensive to treat. Access to care is an important issue: talk to Academy Health about this issue or AHRQ. Access to care is not just insurance but it's a big part of our current problem - if people get care sooner it's cheaper and preventative care is even cheaper. Health makes cents!! I'm losing my insurance soon - I'm in my fifties and I'm a grad student learning a second career. Don't forget us ordinary people! We want to be healthy! We want access to care!
