America must have independent control of our investment in the International Space Station. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin announced Russian plans to end participation in the ISS program in 2020.
The loss of at least 50 billion US taxpayer dollars in an irreplaceable modular space platform is unacceptable. Reliance on Russia is unacceptable.
The loss of ISS related jobs would be devastating to our struggling economy and to the future of American spaceflight. We would have no place to do the advanced technology testing and development in microgravity for future deep space exploration that SLS/Orion missions will require. We would no longer need jobs supporting commercial crew development.
We petition for a US propulsion and control module for the ISS be deployed by NASA prior to 2020.
