In September of 2013, Judge Harold Baer, "ruled that the argument that the national motto violates the establishment clause of the First Amendment is unfounded." A brief submitted in court stated "The national motto simply echoes the principle found in the Declaration of Independence that our freedoms come from God and not the state" and mentioned that the Establishment Clause does not guarantee that citizens will not be exposed to religion. Besides, various polls and statistics show that around 80% of our nation is Christian, Jewish, or Islamic. Therefore, this motto accurately reflects the beliefs of our nation, as it should. Also, the government is prohibited from hindering the free exercise of religion. Removing such a phrase would be an attack on our freedoms. Preserve our liberty!
