Preserve the Hubble space thelescope after it is decommissioned

Created by C.E. on April 05, 2016

I believe that the Hubble telescope is too great a technological marvel to be destroyed. The alternative I offer, is to provide an interface so that astronomical organizations, students, and individuals can use the Hubble to take images of their own. This could accelerate discoveries related to astronomy, because even with inferior equipment amateurs often find celestial bodies before professional astronomers. It would also preserve the feat of engineering that is the Hubble, instead of letting it vaporize in the atmosphere like a common meteorite. I, as well as all those who sign this petition thank the Obama administration for their consideration, and for providing this venue to make a difference for the country.
