President Barack Obama, sign a pardon to free the Puerto Rican Oscar López from prison

Created by A.A. on January 29, 2014

Seventy years old, Oscar López Rivera, is at the moment, the Puerto Rican political prisoner who has spent more time in jail. On May 29, 2013 turned 32 in prison, 12 of them in solitary during which he never had physical contact with his family. In 2011, the Board of Parole United States declared that he must meet another 15 years, a total of 45 years in prison before be eligible for reconsideration. This means that he could not apply for parole until he is 83 years old. Convicted of “seditious conspiracy " for his struggle for the independence of Puerto Rico, was never charged or found guilty of causing injury or death to any person. His sentence is clearly disproportionate viciously outside the margins of what is considered fair. We want him free now.
