We have again watched as the President of the United States and some in Congress jump immediately to criminalize police officers, even claiming racism, when a black person is killed by a police officer in the line of duty. He's been proven wrong in two key cases but his damaging, unhelpful rhetoric continues.
Mr. President, words matter. Stop criminalizing the police before investigations begin. People are innocent until proven guilty. The justice system exists for a reason.
While under fire, our police lacked defensive equipment reducing options to protect themselves and deal with the threat. They lack equipment because President Obama took it away.
Mr. President, restore the equipment. Our Police provide protection to the public and deserve protection themselves.
