President Obama: Endorse Replacing the Electoral College with a National Popular Vote for President

Created by O.O. on December 05, 2016

It is fundamental to democracy: the candidate with the most votes wins. Yet twice since 2000, the candidate with the most votes for President has lost.

We can replace the Electoral College with a popular vote without amending the Constitution. Under the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, states agree to cast their electoral votes for the national popular vote winner. Once states with a total of 270 electoral votes approve, the Compact becomes effective. States with a combined 165 electoral votes have already joined. We are only 105 electoral votes away from holding a national election for President where most votes wins.

We are One Nation. We should hold One Vote, where every vote is equal. President Obama: Please endorse the National Popular Vote Compact before leaving office.
