The United States Government has kept The Territory of Puerto Rico at a great disadvantage to the 50 States during de last 114 years. Young men and wemen are recruited in the Armed forces yearly but upon returning to Puerto Rico can not vote for the President nor any other candidate, when they collect Social Security we veterans can not collect SSI
Owr civil rights are violated as 3.8 million US citizens in Puerto Rico are not permited to vote for Senators and Representatives but many of us pay US taxes without been represented in Congress.
A big % of the population lives under the poverty line due to the territorial or colonial condition. During the 6 Nov 2012 election we said NO to the territory condition with 54% of votes 61% of voted for Statehood.
