We're urging President Obama to meet with Bill McKibben, our nation's leading expert on climate change, to discuss climate science and the Keystone XL Pipeline. There is some confusion about the President's criteria for evaluating this project. We feel a need to know that President Obama has heard directly the strongest case against this project.
We're concerned about the stalemate in our government while many features of our lives suffer. Climate change, however, rises to a unique level. The world is facing terrible problems if we do not organize ourselves and act with greater purpose. As a world leader, it is especially important that we do the right thing.
If President Obama meets with Mr. McKibben we will know that he has received a full briefing about the dangers of tar sands.
