Dear Mr. President:
After the tragic events in Newtown, Conn. you stated: "we're going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics." To that end we ask you to support the creation of the Department of Peace.
Violence in our society emerges from a variety of factors; common sense tells us that there is no "single action" that will prevent these tragedies, and the solution will require coordinated action at all levels and a multidisciplinary approach.
Your support of H.R.808, and your leadership to make it into Law would start the needed process of getting to the root of violence in our society and the creation of solutions to overcome it.
