With an executive order requiring transparency, we can end the secrecy, at least on the part of most Big Business spenders. The president could singlehandedly (literally — all it would take is his signature) help drag those hidden influences out of the shadows by requiring companies that do business with the federal government to disclose their political spending.
Our taxpayer dollars go to thousands of companies — including , 70 of the 100, largest corporations in the United States — that supply the government with everything from pencils to toilet seats to nuclear submarines.
President Obama, please sign an order requiring companies that do business with the federal government to disclose their political spending.
