One of your first promises to the nation was that you would close the prison at Guantanamo Bay. Congressional intransigence has prevented it. Now Donald Trump has promised to expand the use of Guantanamo and indefinite detention. "GTMO" is a stain on our national honor, and it's time for an ultimatum: Tell Congress that if it fails to legislate Guantanamo's close, you will withdraw from our treaty with Cuba, returning Guantanamo Bay to its rightful owner, and withdraw all US military personnel. Presidents Carter and Bush have both unilaterally withdrawn the United States from treaties, and the Supreme Court has upheld the practice. If Congress doesn't want Raul Castro deciding what to do with those detainees, they must act. This is our last chance to restore our country's honor.
