We the people ask the federal government to Propose a new Administration policy:

The president personally encourage CBS and Paramount to relax Star Trek fan tribute guidelines for the public good

Created by A.B. on July 16, 2016

CBS and Paramount (CBS/P) has released guidelines for Star Trek fans to create film tributes and avoid litigation. We respect CBS/P property rights but the guidelines are very limiting to fan efforts.

We ask that the president, himself a fan of this iconic franchise, should:

Directly contact leadership at CBS/P to stress Star Trek’s inspiration encouraging STEM, artists to honing their skills, the value of space exploration and an optimistic future view.

Encourage CBS/P to relax the guidelines to promote these assets for the public good.

Offer CBS/P a meeting with senior staff from the Department of Education, NASA and appropriate legal entities to help fan produced tributes enjoy greater latitude while respecting CBS/P’s owner rights with completion by January 19, 2017.
