The electoral college is a flawed and unrepresentative system. Under the electoral college multiple candidates have won the presidency despite not winning the popular vote, the oldest being John Quincy Adams and the most recent being Donald J. Trump. Neither of these candidates are people that the voters wanted in the election of 1824 it was jackson that won a plurality and in 2016 nearly 200,000 more people voted for Hillary Clinton than they did for Donald Trump. If we are to follow the electoral college those nearly 200,000 votes do not matter.
