We the people ask the federal government to Propose a new Administration policy:

The President should withdraw Merrick Garland's nomination to the Supreme Court, and replace him with a new nominee.

Created by T.R. on September 05, 2016

Merrick Garland was the ideal compromise-nominee, chosen to appease conservative sensibilities over the appointment of Justice Scalia's replacement. Nonetheless the Republicans have willfully - and illegally - denied the Will of the People, in their Unconstitutional obstruction of the President's Article II Sec. 2 power of appointment. The Republicans may well opt to do a hurry-up confirmation of Garland before a new President is inaugurated, if they find this to be to their political advantage. They must not be allowed to break their oaths to the Constitution, and pay no political price for this action. With this petition we call on President Obama to withdraw Garland's nomination, or at the least decline to appoint him if he is confirmed by the Senate.
