President's Single Handed Nuclear Weapons Launch Authority Needs Checks and Balances / Controls

Currently, the president of the United States has the authority to single handedly launch nuclear weapons without consulting anyone else in the US government - let alone getting permission. We need to install some degree of checks and balances to limit the president's supreme authority to launch. Whatever the solution is - an elected group of 5 bi-partisan leaders to make or approve the decision - or some other control, something needs to be established.
