If our elected officials in Washington deserve raises, then so should the millions of Americans that work full time for minimum wages. The cost of living goes up for EVERYONE, not just Washington politicians! The impact of those increases impacts those on the bottom rung of the wage ladder far more than it does those at the top.
This petition seeks to establish a law that requires that if Congress enacts a law raising their own pay or benefits, then the minimum wage MUST be raised by the same percentage as the raise they give themselves. It does not attempt to deny lawmakers raises, only to establish fairness for those millions who earn far less for in many case far more labor.
