Press Congress to Expand overall membership the House of Representatives to better represent the whole public.

Created by N.H. on September 24, 2011

Since 1911, the House of Representatives has been limited to 435 members. While the population of the United States has more than tripled in the last century, the population of the House has remained a constant.

Because population growth has occurred with no rise in the number of Representatives, the American voter of today is one third as represented in their Congress as in the past. This makes campaigns more expensive, Representatives less accessible, and paid lobbyists more powerful.

By raising the membership of the House, a more representative House of Representatives could be elected.
