Press Prime Minister Erdogan of Turkey to recognize the 1915 mass slaughter of Armenians under Ottoman rule as genocide.

Created by Z.B. on June 30, 2013

In 1915, the executive arm of the Ottoman Turkish regime began a state-sponsored, systematic campaign of rape, murder and mass deportation against the minority Christian Armenian population living under Ottoman rule. It is estimated by the International Association of Genocide Scholars that, between 1915 and 1923, as many as 1.5 million Armenians died.
No Turkish government has accepted these heinous crimes as having ever taken place.
Twenty-one countries, including the United States, openly recognize the genocide. The US has had many chances to press the Turkish government on this issue, each time failing to pass the necessary legislation.
Barack Obama in 2007: "...as President I will recognize the Armenian Genocide." He hasn't.
The people of Turkey want reform. We must not fail again.
