Pressure Congress to Enact Legislation Making every Midterm and General Election Day a National Holiday.

Created by D.G. on November 13, 2012

The current law establishing the days and dates for national elections in the United States is outdated and detrimental to working people who might otherwise choose to vote. There is no legitimate reason why Americans should be disenfranchised because they can't get out of work on the Frist Tuesday in November to cast a ballot. Therefore, to honor the countless brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives and livelihoods for the progress of democratic and civil rights in this country, Congress should enact legislation that makes every biennial national election day a federal holiday - and the Obama Administration should take the initiative in pushing through such a bill.
