The Federal government has earned $120 Billion in profit over last 5 years, with $51 billion in profit in 2013 alone. This means the federal government earns more profit than any business in the United States, and they are doing it off of predatory lending to Americans trying to build a future for themselves: the American dream we were all told to believe in and pursue.
The Federal Student Loan Refinancing Act introduced by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand [D-NY] will allow students to refinance their loans at lower interest rates and save millions of students billions of dollars. The White House should urge the Senate to pass the bill and send it to the House. The time for vapid chatter about our children and our future is over, and the time for action is now.
