Pressure the EU into Dissolving the Kingdom of Belgium, an Outdated and Glorified Buffer-State

Created by A.L. on April 20, 2016

The Kingdom of Belgium was formed in an illegitimate revolution that survived due only to British interests in containing French influence. Newer states such as Greece sought legitimacy in the post-Napoleonic order of national-states, but Belgium, its population divided between two distinct languages and cultures, has no claim to national unity. Since then, the glorified buffer-state has been overrun in two world wars, demonstrating its incompetency even at being a buffer-state, failing to do anything more than providing a venue for German war crimes. Now that the EU has largely resolved Western European tensions, the existence of the Belgian state is wholly unjustified.

We therefore request that the US government pressure the EU into partitioning and dissolving the Belgian state.
