The FCC eliminated the Fairness Doctrine in 1987. This petition is to pressure the FCC to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine, and also add in ethics to prevent reporting of facts that are purposefully distorted to lead viewers to a specific conclusion. There are too many broadcasts, from outlets such as Fox News and Rush Limbaugh to name a few, that purposely distort facts and report all out lies to bring their corporate based or personal based beliefs and ideas. This needs to stop, which is why I have created this petition to have the FCC reinstate the Fairness Doctrine.
