Otto Warmbier a 21 year old University of Virginia undergraduate, was convicted and sentenced to 15 years hard labor in a North Korean Gulag after a one-hour trial at North Korea’s Supreme Court. He was given this sentence for attempting to take a propaganda banner from a restricted area of the North Korean hotel where he was staying. Even by North Korea’s standards, the punishment for Mr. Warmbier is extreme for an act that would amount to a harmless misdemeanor elsewhere. The North Korean government has made a habit of arresting U.S. citizens and using them for political purposes. We urge The Obama Administration to end this trend and do all in it's power to obtain a pardon from the North Korean Government for Mr. Warmbier.
