Prevent all non-essential businesses from operating on Thanksgiving Day.

Created by R.S. on November 13, 2012

Over the last five years many retailers including Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and other major outlets have been creeping up the time of Black Friday sales. These sales used to begin early in the morning of the Friday following Thanksgiving holiday. This allowed everyone, including the employees of these retailers, to spend time with their family on a day that is traditionally reserved for the largest of these events. This year, many of these retailers are opening their doors at 8pm on Thanksgiving Day thus preventing many employees from spending time with their families during Thanksgiving dinner.

We petition the Administration to take action against this intrusion by businesses that wish to sacrifice the family time of their employees in the name of market share.
