Currently there are no federal laws protecting animals. The federal government should pass a bill making it the government's right to take animals away from abusive owners! The bill should also give the government the power to punish abusive owners by fines up to $1 million dollars. And imprisonment for up to six months federal correctional institution. Also before a person obtains a animal license they should have to undergo a background check! They should be disqualified if: If they have a history of animal cruelty. We should also schedule check ups once a year to prevent malnutrition and physical abuse. This new law should apply to all animals not just dogs and cats which is where what little state law we have falls under. We should protect more at risk animals. It's time for reform.
