Under the 2nd Amendment of the United States Bill of Rights, the clause "shall not be infringed" is not being upheld. Although there have been many tragedies in which a firearm was used during a rampage, upholding the rights of citizens to purchase a firearm (legally) of their choice is a constitutional right. Banning a certain type of firearm that is widely owned by law-abiding citizens opens the door for future bans, which will then lead to the end of the 2nd Amendment. It is of utmost importance that the bill of rights remains unchanged, which means that there cannot be changes to existing amendments without ratification. All elected officials must abide by the oath they took when theyr were elected into office. Gun control is that the answer to ending mass murders.
