Prevent budget cuts to our National Parks Service.

Created by N.J. on February 22, 2013

Impending federal budget cuts are threatening services provided at many of our nation's 398 National Parks.

This petition asks that those cuts be cancelled and other avenues be explored to cover the deficit the parks are facing, perhaps a minimal increase in park entrance or permit fees.

The founding idea of the national parks is to provide the public access to the greatest natural wonders in this great land, and ALSO to protect those wonders from both outside threats and the aforementioned park visitors. The balance between access and preservation is a precarious one, and a decrease in funding could be the tipping point that damages the natural heritage we seek to pass on to future generations.

The National Parks are America's best idea, and one that we should fight to preserve.
