Commissaries on military bases provide good quality groceries for military families, both currently serving and retired ones. They also provide thousands of jobs to military spouses and children, jobs that they may otherwise be unable to find. A recent article posted on November 21st of this year on military.com stated that families save about 30%, or $4,500, shopping at these stores. Taking another $4,500 out of the pockets of the military just isn't feasible. This is why we petition that the Obama administration does what it can to prevent commissaries from closing.
