I find it appalling that congress can go on vacation while others that serve their country like military and other federal employees are on the brink of losing their jobs, face unexpected pay cuts, or non-payment for services rendered.
Considering the benefits that members of congress receive (retirement package, pay, & days off), there seems to be very little incentive for them to solve the nation's most immediate threat of financial ruin. If members of congress were affected by the budget crisis like other federal employees, they would be less concerned with their next election or political standing and more concerned with putting food on their table and their future financial well-being.
