Prevent the elimination of subsidized graduate & professional student Stafford loans on July 1st, 2012

Created by N.T. on April 24, 2012

Following the debt ceiling debacle in August 2011, the Budget Control Act of 2011 was passed. Within this bill was a provision eliminating subsidized Stafford loans for graduate and professional students after July 1st, 2012.

Eliminating the subsidized portion of graduate loans will add tens of thousands of dollars to student debt in the form of additional interest accruing while America's students are still in school.

This petition asks the White House to not only respond to this additional burden placed on the backs of it's graduate students, but to commit to preventing this devastating change from occurring.

Support America's future by supporting the scientists, engineers, economists, artists, writers, and doctors (among many others) who will foster this future.

Thank you.
