We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Prevent the elongation of high school days and years in states such as New York.

Created by A.K. on May 27, 2016

The United States is behind in education to other countries such as China and Korea, who have longer school days and years. As a result, many argue that American students should go to school for a longer time during the day and for more days throughout the year. However, requiring high school students to go to school longer will not improve their education, it will just make them more tired and stressed because they will then have to balance homework, work, and extracurricular activities with less time, which will lead to less sleep. By signing this, you ask Congress to refrain from passing any laws that will make the school day or year longer.
