Field Service workers who are required to drive excessive hours a day to service or respond to field customers are being forced to work massive amours of overtime without the ability to refuse due to the lack of workers rights. These workers are drive the nations streets and highways often working 12 to 18 hour days deprived of sleep. DOT has Rules and laws are in place for truck driver and these laws should also apply to field service workers or any workers that are required to drive for a living. The Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that approximately 100,000 police-reported crashes annually involve drowsiness and/or fatigue as a principal causal factor. Those crashes result in an estimated 1,500 fatalities and 71,000 injuries each year.
