The FCC is going to, on December 10, 2012, allow cable companies to encrypt basic TV channels, which include government, local news stations, public and education channels, which essentially means even basic subscribers will have to have a cable box, resulting in extra fees for renting the box.Cable companies claim this will prevent "stealing" of cable, and improve efficiency of activating and terminating service. All of this means you will have to pay more money for your cable service.
