President Obama has been considering sending “lethal aid” to assist Ukraine against Russian invasion. While we are horrified by conflict in Ukraine leading to more than 5 thousand deaths and more than a million refugees, we believe that any kind of lethal aid to Ukraine on behalf of the US will only escalate the conflict, not alleviate it. History proves that sending lethal weapons for the sake of defense causes more killings and more people losing their homes, not less. Sending lethal aid to Ukraine carries the risk of initiating the war of global proportions. We ask President Obama to drop the plans of sending lethal aid to Ukraine and rather assist Ukraine (which remains Russian main trading partner) with achieving economic independency from Russia as soon as possible.
