According to the 1869 Supreme Court Ruling in Texas v White, et al, the Constitution did not permit states to unilaterally secede from the US, and that the acts of legislature within seceded states intended to give effect to such ordinances, were "absolutely null". We The People believe that the reason for the sudden petition of Virginia among other states to secede the US is not based on the constitutional right to secede but rather as a result of racial and party discrimination against President Barack Obama's reelection. We The People believe that those states, including Virginia, aim to take away our constitutional right to freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Should any state be allowed to secede by majority rule it will take with it unwilling citizens of the US.
