Many local jails are run by and owned by the judges, lawyers, police, etc. that are putting the people in them. Every person in the jail is a form of profit for the owners. This can lead to longer convictions than necessary for minor crimes in order to provide profit for the jails. The very same people that are convicting people are the ones that are profiting from these convictions. Many local jails provide below average food, high cost of essentials and no outside activity for the inmates. Stop our local judges and lawyers from making profits off of their convictions. Our justice system is not there for them to profit from.
