According to the New York Times, "Comcast is expected to announce on Thursday [2/13/2014] an agreement to acquire Time Warner Cable for more than $45 billion in stock, a deal that would combine the biggest and second-biggest cable television operators in the country."
Consumers in many markets are already limited to a single possible provider for cable and internet, essentially creating a local monopoly that has resulted in predatory pricing, poor customer service, substandard infrastructure, and exorbitant profits at the expense of the public good.
Previous mergers have already created insurmountable barriers to entry for competitors.
We ask that the executive branch prevent further harm to customers by preventing a Comcast-Time Warner merger.
