On December 14, over two dozen victims were mercilessly executed at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut. The National Rifle Association has long opposed appropriate regulation of the assault-style weaponry used to murder those women and young children.
But after several days of silence – and after decades of senseless gun violence, much of which was enabled through its own lobbying efforts – the NRA emerged to tell America it is “prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.”
Mr. President, please reject this self-serving offer to “help.” Exclude the NRA from all discussions on reforming our Nation’s gun laws. Do this on behalf of tens of thousands of victims of gun violence who no longer have a voice in this critical debate.
