Professional sports teams should not allow its owner to employ his or her friends, or family members, in the organization's team operations department. If a franchise's owner does employ his or her family for a year, and the team finishes the season with the league's worst record, a public vote should question whether that family member continue as President of the team's operations. An owner that hires family or friends in operations departments eliminates jobs for qualified candidates, sometimes for multiple years. A thriving sports franchise brings revenue to its city all year round, and provides unique jobs that are exciting. Having this type of public forum would give other people a shot at running the franchise, especially in times when the team is underachieving.
