We prosecute gas stations & hardware stores for unfairly raising prices on needed items in the aftermath of a storm or the threat of a shortage. There are laws & regulations in place to prevent such price gouging. These laws & regulations have failed to prevent large pharmaceutical companies from engaging in similar behavior. Recently, Turing Pharmaceuticals purchased the rights to Darapim, a drug designed to treat patients with cancer and AIDS, Since purchasing the rights, Turing raised the price of the drug from $13.50 a pill to $750.00 a pill - a 5,000% increase. The American people need to be protected from corporate greed such as this - especially for life saving medications. We therefor petition the President to take whatever actions necessary to stop this heinous practice.
