We the people believe it is time to reform credit bureau reporting and business practices to improve the functioning of a system primarily designed to the detriment of consumers and for the benefit of cyber-criminals and credit bureaus.
In an era of pervasive financial cybercrime and identity theft, we ask the White House to fight for the following reforms:
1. Unlimited free access to credit records to quickly identify and stop identity and card theft.
2. Modern technology applied to the authentication of identity before credit information can be looked up. We request the right to opt-in to this protection.
3. Legally require bureaus to explicitly opt-in consumers before credit information can be used for marketing purposes.
