We the people ask the federal government to Change an existing Administration policy:

Prevent Presidential Candidates from Receiving Classified Information and/or Briefings

Created by R.C. on May 04, 2016

In 1952 President Truman authorized the CIA to brief the Republican nominee, and briefings of presidential candidates have been authorized since then to help prepare the eventual President-Elect. It is a dangerous practice to provide classified information to individuals who have received their party's nomination for President, but have neither been elected by the People nor passed the rigorous standards normally required for obtaining the appropriate security clearances. Presidential candidates who have secured their party's nomination should be afforded no special access to classified information solely because of their nomination. This petition takes no position on briefings provided to the President-Elect following his or her election.
