We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

To prevent registration of residents by demographic factors for which it is illegal to discriminate, including religion

Created by D.M. on November 19, 2016

Federal law already prohibits discrimination of US citizens and other residents by factors that include by religion, race, color, ethnicity, gender, and country of national origin. Therefore, it is incumbent upon Congress to respect those inalienable rights and block efforts to create any national registries by protected factors. Otherwise, such databases conflict with both law and constitutional rights whenever it suits a party in power to discriminate in the name of "presumed" national need, including martial law.

Historically, the United States has gone down this road with harmful results. For instance, we had Japanese-American interment camps during WWII and considered all Black Americans as potential runaway slaves under Kentucky v. Van Zandt, "Dred Scott," and "Jim Crow" laws.
