The St. Louis Blues have a tradition of live organ music. Jeremy Boyer, the Blues organist, plays a Glenn Miller arrangement of W. C. Handy's "St. Louis Blues" in its entirety before games and a short version at the end of every period, followed by "When the Saints Go Marching In." Boyer also plays the latter song on the organ after Blues goals.
The Blues organization have suggested that the live organ playing “When the Saints Go Marching In” should be replaced with a more pedestrian contemporary pop song as many of the other teams around the NHL has done. This would diminish the live presentation of the game and disregard years of tradition as well as contribute to organ player unemployment.
