Teachers, Principals, Schools, and School Districts should not be held accountable for the test scores of students who were absent 30 times or more in a school year. Those scores should be deleted from the schools AYP scores and from the teacher's and principal's evaluations. Students who are absent that many times usually do not improve their test scores, and teachers and principals cannot make the parent bring their child to class. Although it is against the law for a student to be absent excessively, those laws are generally not enforced because local D.A.'s lack the staffing. However, as the system stands today, teachers are being evaluated when excessively absent students do not improve their test scores. This is a hidden injustice against Public School Teachers and Schools.
